Each book that appeared in a weekly hardcover nonfiction bestseller list published by The New York Times and Publishers Weekly during 2001 is listed in the table below in alphabetical order, along with information specifying whether or not the book includes an index.
Both lists include the week's top fifteen bestsellers. The Times's is dated Sunday, such as January 7, 2001; Publishers Weekly's is dated Monday, such as January 1, 2001. Both publications published 52 lists dated the year 2001. In the table, NYT signifies The Times's list; PW signifies Publishers Weekly's list.
Information about the presence or absence of an index is based on data in the book's MARC tags retrieved from the Library of Congress Online Catalog . The table indicates the presence of an index only if the word index appears in the book's MARC field tag 500, usually in a phrase such as Includes index or Includes bibliography and index. It indicates the absence of an index if the word index does not appear in the book's MARC field tag 500 or if field tag 500 is not one of the book's MARC tags.
